Virus Entry 11

Virus entry 11

Quite the loveliest thing today. Debbie told me that she had been chatting to likeminded teachers and specifically this chap who tweets a lot about his job being someone that gives appraisals to Headteachers. Their conversation was good and supportive for Debbie. On a side thread Debbie showed me her answer to the question ‘what has this virus shown you?’ Her answer was that she knows she married the right man. That was very lovely to hear.

USA has now surpassed China in deaths. Number of USA C-19 deaths today rose above now 9-11. The blame game is turning ugly and sad. On the news I’ve heard that US soldiers brought the virus to Wuhan. That Italy was actually where it began.

There’s plenty of good news stories about the NHS - we may have dodged a bullet etc. Shots of cleaners;much ado about the Nightingale hospital at Excel - the biggest in the world! And made in under two weeks. Apparently. A nudge that we beat China to some made up competition. Not mentioning that the actual building was already there. It’s puerile and obvious bias - propaganda even?

Taught Rory today. What a fine young man he is. Found out his Mum, Fiona, is ex Chets. Also lovely.

Learning a lot about Zoom today. Found out about Zoom audiolab., which would be a big investment. I hadn’t heard of Zoom two weeks ago.

400 Uk deaths today.

1,880 total.

Massive government mistakes include tests, ventilators. Confusion in communication between NHS Wales, NHS England and Roche.

PPE suits are nowhere near what we need.

From the radio - after the virus there will be a major reckoning. There will be huge change. End of globalisation?

Asian countries have done better than the west? Shift of power from west to east. Thoughts of a world less open, less free being problematic. But other voices - socialism? Socialism with details and examples of how people are working together. Passions are high.

Also - for artists especially musicians to distract, delight and entertain us.

The long term effect of social distancing? Remains to be seen.
