Virus Entry 10

I honestly can’t believe the stupidity of a friend’s boss.

I can’t talk about private health matters here. But there’s no harm in saying that my friend has asthma. Therefore last week when there was confusion as to exactly who should be isolating and who should be sending their kids to schools. (There was a question as to who is classed as a key worker) my friend took the initiative and said that as she and others in the household are on the ‘at risk’ category everyone shall work from home and practice maximum social distancing immediately.

My freind has been working flat out in the office at home. She is constantly thinking about all the pupils in the school; what do they need? Who is at risk? Things like how to organise free school meals - talking to the other staff members and much more. This is all added to her actual duties with her job.

There’s now a very small handful of children physically attending the school - vulnerable and key worker children. One member of staff could easily look after them physically at the school. The head maybe? Leaving the rest of the staff to teach and do other things at home. That’s what is being done - setting work, calling parents to reassure them, everything here with our families and friends needing support, thinking how to help as many people as possible etc etc

So do you know what the head has done? Requested evidence for the condition. I don’t know where to start with this.

Why? Does she not trust? Does the head think the NHS/doctors surgery have got spare time to find documents to provide evidence? Is she a complete idiot?

Tiny things like this must be happening all over the place. The letter from the future from Rome mentioned that we will see the true nature of people during this crisis. In my experience the vast, overwhelming majority of people are lovely and amazing. People are kind and thoughtful. People are creative and loving and usually will go out of their way to help others.

There are some people however that don’t. Whether it’s stupidity, selfishness, a lack of life experience or the environment that they grew up in some people need help to see how beautiful the world is.

I was blessed with a stable and loving family to grow up in and benefitted from a really brilliant state education. Education needs to be a big part of the new world. Therefore we need professional teachers and leaders. For a lot of people there will evidently have to be big changes.
