Virus entry 17
Bad news today. Boris Johnson, the prime minister, is in intensive care. Obviously terrible for him and his family but now we are being led by Raab. Foreign secretary. A man who looks like he is really crapping himself.
Better news. Today marks 100 days since I last had an alcoholic drink. Prior to the drinks I had over Christmas (and back to the trip to Rabat) I had a dry run of 60 days and found it ok. No reason to believe I will break my sobriety at the moment. I think I’ll save that until I can see my mates again. That will be a reason to celebrate!
The numbers are rising. It’s impossible to know what is going on. The news is all about Boris and the nhs generally. Tonight’s stuff was about patient care. Exactly what Lindy was explaining yesterday.
Another great zoom with Adam. It’s so good to see him. He is very relaxed. Such a positive person it’s actually inspiring. We go back ages and have always been very close. Through Chets, Guildhall, Germany (including his Bruckner 4 epiphany which resulted in his moving to South Africa) and South Africa. Once upon a time we played together in a live TV broadcast of Strictly Come Dancing. We also saw dawn together on the Pennines way following one of the most incredible nights of my life.
He is going to let me a little into his professional life which I am very interested in. There are big changes.
Homie Blackman died today, 94. I met her once backstage doing a bond gala event at St David’s Hall. I loved it. Especially the underwater fight scene. We trombones got a stand following that. She was amazingly classy. Didn’t realise she was that old.
Hopes Spain has peaked. 1st wave obvs. 10,000 USA deaths. Emotional doctors explaining grim details.
