Welcome to Dursley Music Centre

During the virus pandemic we are currently not physically meeting at our normal place - the excellent music block of Rednock School in Dursley.

We are still teaching and nurturing musicians in the area. We use zoom, telephone, FaceTime, emails and recordings to keep our musicians involved in music making. We are setting challenges and games for everybody to enjoy music during these strange times.

We are working closely with Edge.Radio to deliver music (listening club) using internet radio. Tune into Alan's show live at 11am every Saturday morning. If you want to listen to any past shows you can find them here

Listening club 11am Saturday's are now broadcast on www.edge.radio

Choir/Singing

Singing

- is a great way to get started

- teaches the ear

- is good for ensemble (even in Lockdown)

- is great fun

We learn the basics of music

There's much more - many studies have shown how beneficial singing is!

General music appreciation is a broad area and can include almost anything such as:

    Composition

    Listening

    Theory

    Comparison

    Music production

    DJ

Instruments

Learning an instrument is key to having music in your soul

The brain learns to handle thinking, reading and doing in ‘real time’

    Motor skills

    Self expression

    Confidence building

    Planning

    Self discipline

Much more - many studies have shown the benefits of learning an instrument

Music is fun. There are many music games that we can play.
